Gentlemen adventurers

September 29, 2008

It’s a rainy night, I can hear large drips reverberating around the inner courtyard of the apartment I’m staying in; an occasional door slams. The piece of space I’m referring to, is a little like the garden which separates the Hinterhaus (rear apartment) from the more expensive Vorderhaus (front/street facing apartment) in German apartments. It’s a curious dead-zone lit by sodium vapour lamps, where nothing can grow because it’s essentially walled in from any source of natural light.

So as the drips drip, and the opposing security bars of the windows glance at each other from across the void, another weblog is born. It wouldn’t be my first, and it certainly won’t become something more pleasing to the ears amongst the noise, yet here I am, able to write anything without being locked to a topic.

So during these coming winter months, as my sailing boat shivers in the yard, I will write on occassion here, and elsewhere on the web (to be announced) as the seasons do their scheduled rotation. In 2009, my voyage will continue, and this space will more than likely come to an abrupt halt. Yet until then, I’ll be publishing freely to the network, on the former generation of gentlemen adventurers, arctic winds, nomads, outcasts, dreamers, and exploratory misfits.
